What does it look like?

The KC2000 has the appearance of a converted mini fridge and thus is a UL approved conversion refrigerator. It comes in a modern black on black finish, with a reversible door. A protective metal floor plate is secured to the bottom of the appliance, this gives it added durability and strength. Four casters (roller wheels) are included and can be attached which enable the kegerator to be very mobile and therefore easy to move into a required position.

There is a metal wire (chrome) safety railing surrounding the 3 sides at the top of the kegerator, this helps to secure any glasses and prevents them from falling and being broken. A drip tray catches any overrun after a beer has been dispensed. To top off the design, a stainless steel draft tower with faucet provides the ice cold thirst quenching beer. Finally, there is an external aluminium CO2 tank attached to the rear of the KC2000.

Low Temperature Thermostat

The built-in thermostat enables the kegerator to maintain ultra-low temperatures, easily reaching into the low 30C’s (86F). A great plus for quickly cooling and keeping your beer ice cold.

Slim Width

The width is 4 inches less than a standard full size kegerator but still large enough to hold a full size keg. This is great for fitting it into those tighter areas or gaps within a kitchen or man cave.

Caster Included

The rolling casters make it easy to move from room to room, as and when needed. This can be extremely beneficial and convenient when entertaining.

External CO2 Tank Mount

There is more internal space because the gas tank is externally mounted at the back of the unit. It has an easy to read gauge attached, this enables one to keep track of the tank pressure.

Components Included and Assembly

1 Stainless Steel Column Draft Tower
2 Chrome Plated Brass Faucet
3 Domestic “D” System Sankey Coupler
4 Single Gauge Regulator
5 5 ft. of 3/16 in. I.D. NSF Approved Beer Line
6 5 ft. of 5/16 in. I.D. Vinyl Air Line NSF Approved

8 Drip Tray
9 Spanner Faucet Wrench
10 Black Tap Handle

Assembly generally takes an average of between 30 minutes to 1 hour. The time taken to perform this task is dependent on how comfortable or handy you are when faced with such a task. Fortunately not many tools are needed, only a screwdriver and wrench would be required to complete your mission successfully. An easy step by step instruction guide is also supplied. An important element to always remember is that all connections must be securely fastened to prevent any leaks.

For better clarity on the assembly, I recommend you watch the videos below, this will take you through all the steps.

Something to be aware of is that CO2 tank comes empty due to HAZMAT shipping restrictions and will need to be filled at a local air/gas or welding supplier.
One last important point to always remember is that when you are assembling the beer coupler to the airline, never discard the clear check valve inside the coupler. This prevents air leaks and liquid from flowing back up into the regulator.

Keg Sizes and Capacity

Acceptable Configurations:

• (1) Full Size Keg, 1/2 Barrel (124 pints)
• (1) Pony Keg, 1/4 Barrel (62 pints)
• (1) Slim-Pony Keg, 1/4 Barrel (62 pints)
• Up to (2) Sixth Barrel kegs, (42 pints each)
• Up to (2) Cornelius Homebrew kegs, (40 pints each)

The capacity of the KC2000 can sometimes be a slight concern because of its compact size. It stores and holds most full size kegs but does not support the oversized rubber and bevelled wall ¼ barrel kegs, any oversized kegs like Miller or Coors will definitely not fit. An over-sized keg is considered anything over 16 1/8 inches.

Edgstar provides a 90 day warranty on labour from the date of original purchase. All labour should be performed free of charge at any authorized EdgeStar repair facility. One drawback here is having to carry the appliance to your local repair facility.
Parts are also covered for a 1 year period from the date of purchase. As part of this cover Edgestar agrees to supply new, rebuilt, or refurbished parts free of charge.

In my opinion, this warranty is not the best and not as good as other products within this category but because this kegerator is basically just a converted mini-fridge, the short warranty hopefully shouldn’t come into play.

The company provides customer service and product expert teams from 8am to 5pm CST, Monday through to Friday. They also make a promise that if they’re not available, you have the option to leave a message or send an email. Someone will call you back within 1 business day.

We recommend the Edgestar KC2000 Kegerator available at Amazon

In conclusion, the Kc2000 is an excellent simplified entry level kegerator for the first time buyer. I would recommend it to those looking for an affordable option. The warranty may not have the best cover but this shouldn’t be an issue for most users of this product. It’s also one of the smaller sized kergerators on wheels making it quite mobile and easy to move from room to room. Saying that, one drawback may be that it should only be used indoors. Overall most first buyers will be very satisfied with this purchase.

Where to buy and price?

The price of the KC2000 has a wide range of pricing, obviously depending on where you buy the product. It’s generally very affordable. This excellent low price is one of its biggest selling points. Shipping is also included for free, which is a nice touch.
